Triathlon Peeblesshire

On Sunday 22ndSeptember, 9 fifth year students took on the challenge of a swim, cycle or run, all in aid of two girls’ fundraising. In order for them to go to Malawi in the summer of 2014, Eleanor Walker and Maisie Wilson each have to raise £2000, and the triathlon was another step towards their goal. Their trip has been organised by the Borders Exploration Group which is a non-profit organisation run by a group of volunteer adults for the benefit of young people between the ages of 16 – 25, and living in the Scottish Borders.
This triathlon was the first major fundraiser that Eleanor and Maisie (both from the Cademuir house) had organised themselves, with friends helping them out doing either a twenty km cycle or twenty lengths of Peebles Swimming Pool, and when added to the two girls’ 6.5km run, it resulted in a distance of 75km - the distance across Lake Malawi.
Many more fundraisers are in the pipeline for the two girls, including a raffle for which the tickets are available now. There are some brilliant prizes including two nights away for two at The Anchor Hotel in Tarbert and vouchers for the Howgate Restaurant, Xanadu Beauty Clinic, Peebles Golf Club, Eastgate Theatre, Tontine Hotel and a guided fishing tour with Fish Wild. You could even win a House of Commons bottle of whisky signed by the Prime Minister, David Cameron!
