Iron Man 3

For those of you who don't know, the “Iron Man” franchise follows the adventures of the armor wearing, billionaire, superhero Tony Stark and the latest installment of the series (“Iron Man 3”) was just released on DVD and Blu-Ray. But did it live up to all the hype?
It is set after the 2012 film “Avengers Assemble” and shows the impact that the events of that film had on Tony Stark.  The film has a major twist which changes the path of the film which was interesting but came across very cheesy the first viewing, but after that I thought it added well needed comedy to quite a serious film.
The Story involves Iron Man (Tony Stark) chasing down a terrorist known as the Mandarin and also introduces the replacement for War Machine, Iron Patriot. The film involved a lot of action without his suit and was more about Tony Stark than Iron Man. I love that we saw all 42 of his suits in an epic confrontation at the end.
The Casting phenomenal, Robert Downey Jr is as incredible ever as Tony Stark/Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow plays a convincing Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle portrays Tony Stark's friend and sidekick Colonel James Rhodes/Iron Patriot. Ben Kingsley plays an interesting terrorist known as The Mandarin and Guy Pearce as the evil Aldrich Killian yet you still feel for the character at certain points. The best performance of the film was by far Robert Downey Jr's intriguing performance as Tony Stark bringing plenty of emotion and action into the mix.
Shane Black takes over the directing chair from director of the first two movies Jon Favreau. He brings a whole new take to the franchise setting a much darker atmosphere which works much better for the character.
8/10: This is a very new take on the series whilst still keeping the same ideas at the core. The twist lets the film down, but give it a chance because after seeing it a second time, I enjoyed the comedic element. I would recommend it to fans of the previous films and anyone who loves a good action movie.
